Editing Layouts

The Layouts use sidebar controls which are used to define the left and right columns of your layouts.  These controls are simply individual components that can be combined to create a custom sidebar for any page layout.  Components that can be displayed are features like a mini-basket, social media links, category lists, and much more.

To Edit a Layout

  1. From the Manage Layouts page, click the EDIT icon or linked Layout name.

  2. On the Edit Layout page, you will be able to change the settings to display the Header, Footer, Left and Right Sidebars.  In the first section, you will see the name of the Layout and a description (for admin use only).  The following is an example of the Category Layout.

  3. The Store Header control is selected by default for the Header of each layout.

  4. Next, you can setup your Left and/or Right sidebars.

  5. Click the ADD CONTROLS button to display a list of Available Controls as shown in this example.

     

    Pick one or more and click the ADD CONTROLS button.  

  6. You can then use the up and down arrows to sort the controls from top to bottom.  

    Keep in mind that a control may not appear on the store page until it is activated.  For example, the Mini-Basket control will only appear when the customer has added an item to the shopping cart.

  7. For most controls, you can click the EDIT icon to change how it will be displayed.  In this example. the Social Media Links control can accept either true or false values.



    If you wish to change a value, enter it in the applicable Custom Value field and click UPDATE PARAMETERS.  Note that not all controls have parameters that can be changed.

  8. Additionally, you can click the COPY icon to duplicate a control for the layout.  This does not create a new control file, but it will enable you to make parameter changes while inserting more than one control in a layout.

  9. The Store Footer control is selected by default for the Footer of each layout.

  10. When finished, click the SAVE button, or SAVE AND CLOSE button to return to the Manage Layouts page.

TIP:

In the list below, the Control Name is listed with an example output in the store.  The controls will each have additional properties that allow for easy customization.  The controls are located in the \ConLib\ folder and can be changed as needed.

 

Basket Shipping Estimate

Displays a shipping estimate form so users can get estimated shipping costs before placing the order.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:BasketShippingEstimate]]

VARIABLES:  

  • The Shipping Estimate control will appear if there are shippable products in the basket.

 

 

Category Search Sidebar

Displays a search panel to narrow and expand results based on category, manufacturer, keyword, or Shop By attributes derived from the merchant Product Templates.  This control should be used with category pages only*.

Control Name:  

[[ConLib:CategorySearchSidebar]]

The Category Search control provides an 'Amazon' style of product search.     

The deep item display allows the customer to search through multiple categories and sub-categories and refine the search results as needed.

  • Expand Your Result - after a selection has been made, you can remove the search criteria so more results are displayed.

  • Narrow by Category - select a category to see only the products within that category are shown.  The number of items within the category is displayed.

  • Narrow by Manufacturer - if you associate your products to Manufacturers, you can further define the search results.

  • Narrow by Keyword - keyword searching can also define the list of search results.

  • Shop by fields - these are custom fields that are created by using the Product Templates.  They are customized by the merchant to allow their customers to narrow down the product results.  This control will only work with the Category Grid (deep item display) pages.

 

Mini Basket

Displays a mini basket.  This control can be used with all layouts.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:MiniBasket]]

VARIABLES:  

  • The 'MiniBasket' control will appear if the user has added any items to the basket.

 

 

PayPal Banner Ad

Displays a PayPal Banner that is used to advertise the PayPal Credit feature.

Control Name:

[[[ConLib:PayPalBannerAd PublisherId="" BannerSize="170x100"]]

Parameters:

PublisherId
The unique Paypal publisher Id, you can get it by logging in to your PayPal account at PayPal website.

BannerSize (default value 170 x 100)
Choose from the defined available sizes of banner Ads, check PayPal financing portal for more information.(https://financing.paypal.com/ppfinportal/home/index)

  
 

Product Tell a Friend

Displays a form so users can send another person a link to the product being viewed.  This control should be used on product pages only.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:ProductTellAFriend]]

 

Popular Products Dialog

Displays the products in your store that are sold the most.  This control can be used with all layouts.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:PopularProductsDialog]]

 

 

Recently Viewed

Displays a list of recently viewed products.  This control can be used with all layouts.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:RecentlyViewed]]

VARIABLES:  

  • The 'RecentlyViewed' control will appear after the user has viewed a product.

 

Related Products

Displays a related products to the item being viewed.  This control should be used on product page layouts only.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:RelatedProducts]]

VARIABLES:  

  • If the primary item being displayed has related, or Similar Products assigned, these will be shown by the control object 'RelatedProducts'.

 

 

 

Subscribe to Email List

Display a form so users can signup for your mailing lists.  This control can be used with any layout.

Control Name:

[[SubscribeToEmailList]]

VARIABLES:  

  • A mailing list is required for the control to appear.

 

Simple Category List

Displays category list for navigation.  This control should be used on the home page or top level category pages.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:SimpleCategoryList]]

 

 

Social Media Links Dialog

Displays counters for Facebook Likes, Google Plus+, Tweets, and Pin it.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:SocialMediaLinksDialog]]

 

 

Wishlist Search

Displays a search form for the public wishlists created by your customers.  This control can be used with all layouts.

Control Name:

[[ConLib:WishlistSearch]]
