Do not upgrade until you understand the following:

What you need to do before upgrading (do not skip this!)

  1. Create a backup of your database.

  2. Create a backup of all application files.

  3. Confirm the server is running Asp.Net 4.8 (skip this step if upgrading from 9.0.4 or later)

1) Download AbleCommerce upgrade file

A new feature in version 9 allows you to see all available upgrades for an installation.

The download, with its corresponding readme file, will be shown if you are eligible for an upgrade. Follow the instructions below.

  1. To obtain the download, login to the Merchant Menu for the AbleCommerce installation being upgraded.  

  2. Using the admin menu, go to Upgrades > Available Upgrades.

  3. Find the upgrade for the next version. It will be labeled "AbleCommerce Upgrade to 9.0.9"

  4. Download the .zip file to a temporary location, and extract the contents.

  5. If you do not see the available download, please

    1. Confirm your current version is 9.0.8.7434. The version is shown in the upper-left corner of the Dashboard.

    1. Confirm your license key is valid for the upgrade by checking the Configure > Security > Licensing page:

      - The license type must be either LIVE or DEVELOPMENT, and
      - Subscription End date must be on or after the date of release, October 10th, 2023.

2) Upgrade Instructions

  1. Go to the Upgrades > Available Upgrades page in the admin.

  2. Click the Instructions button from the Action column.

  3. Open the file and read the entire document through.

  4. Complete the instructions for upgrading, making sure to complete any post-upgrade steps.

    If you receive errors during or after the upgrade, please post a message to the AbleCommerce Forums or open a support ticket by logging in to your account.
