Maintenance

AbleCommerce has some built-in database maintenance scripts that run every 6 hours.  As the merchant, you can choose to save data like anonymous users and their abandoned baskets.  But over time, your database can fill up with this excess data.  Many hosting plans will have limits on the size of a database, or even charge you extra for using additional database store space.  

The maintenance scripts can remove unnecessary information that is stored in the database.  This keeps the size of your database at the minimum necessary.

If you sell gift certificates, the maintenance scripts also run to cancel any certificates that have expired.  You don't have to set an expiration date for your gift certificates, but the option is there if you want to.
