AbleCommerce License

AbleCommerce software is installed once for each website (store).  Each store requires it's own license.  An AbleCommerce production license is required to process orders and activate the software when the 30 day evaluation period has expired.  Once you've installed the license, you should not have to change it unless the domain that AbleCommerce runs on is changed.

A development license functions the same as a production license.  The difference between a development and production license is the website or IP it is associated to.  A development website will typically be something like "localhost", "127.0.0.1", "devserver", a public IP, or "dev.store.com" and the license key will be associated to the domain, IP, or machine name.

In some cases, an AbleCommerce installation must be moved.  A new license is required if you physically move the AbleCommerce program files to a different location.  You cannot reuse any prior license keys you may have received.

By using the Demo Mode feature, you will be able to run your licensed installation on any domain or IP.  This allows you to 'preview' AbleCommerce on some other website.  This feature can also be used in a development environment where the IP or domain is changing.

The License Type is a setting which is determined by the Demo Mode feature.  If the license is LIVE, you will be able to accept online orders.  If the license is in DEMO mode, then the customer information is removed from order.  You can still operate a licensed store in DEMO mode.

The Subscription lists the end date of your software subscription purchase.  This is optional and only available with the initial purchase or with an upgrade.  If your license key has no subscription embedded, then it will display NONE.  A software subscription determines whether you will be able to upgrade the software for free.  It does not expire the software or render it unusable in any way.  Software subscriptions are valid for one year.

Registered Domains indicates the name of the website(s) used to create the license key.  A license can respond to more than one website, however, you must have a key that supports this feature.

Demo Mode

The Demo Mode feature is used when you want to run AbleCommerce on a different website than the key is associated to.  When a license is in DEMO mode, the customer information is removed from the order.  You can still operate a licensed store in DEMO mode.  It is a feature used primarily for moving AbleCommerce stores and developers with changing website names.
