Windows 2000/2003 Server Software Requirements

For AbleCommerce to work, the following software must be installed:

  1. Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5, 6, or 7 (See Note #2): This is the default web server pre-installed on Windows server platforms.

  2. .NET Framework (Asp.Net 2.0): This is a software component that can be added to or is included with Microsoft Windows operating system.

  3. ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0: This is a free framework for quickly creating a new generation of more efficient and interactive Web experiences that work across all the most popular browsers.

NOTE #1: AbleCommerce has not been tested with Asp.Net 3.5 or AJAX 3.5

NOTE #2
: AbleCommerce 7.0 does not work natively on IIS 7.0, unless you configure the application pool to “classic ASP.NET”.  This is because of the new integrated pipe lining feature. AbleCommerce 7.1 is compatible with IIS 7.0 Integrated Pipeline Mode.

Optional Software Requirements

The following software is only required if using PayPal or Cybersource payment gateways.

  1. Microsoft Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0: Enables developers to build secure Web services based on the latest Web services protocol specifications.

NOTE #1: You should install WSE 3.0 before installing AbleCommerce. However, if you need to install WSE 3.0 after AbleCommerce is installed, then you will need to backup the web.config file and replace it when finished.

NOTE #2
: If you install AbleCommerce 7.0 and WSE 3.0 on a server running AbleCommerce 5.5, and Cybersource is an active payment gateway, the AbleCommerce 5.5 version of Cybersource will cease to function.  For AbleCommerce 5.5 installations using CyberSource, you will need to run AbleCommerce 7.0 on a different server.

Database Requirements

AbleCommerce ships with support for the following databases:

NOTE: Make sure the appropriate services and features are accessible and working. With SQL Server 2005, some features are turned off by default. Moreover, SQL Server Express is configured to not listen on the network via TCP/IP.
For more information, see Configuring SQL Server Express 2005 for Remote Access

If you are installing SQL 2005 Express on the same server as AbleCommerce 7, no additional configuration is needed.

Browser Requirements

After installation, AbleCommerce is fully administered with a web browser.
