USPS changes effective September 28th, 2014

INFORMATION

USPS Web Tools will be retiring their RateV3 API on September 28, 2014. We have provided a patch so you can upgrade to RateV4 and avoid any disruption in service.

AMENDMENTS

Changes between August 25th, 2014 and Sept. 24th, 2014 include:

Upgrade International API to RateV2.
Change country name from "Great Britain" to "United Kingdom" (within USPS code)
Change maximum weight from 150 lbs to 70 lbs.
Dimensions will be rounded up to the nearest whole number.
Tracking URL updated to https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?qtc_tLabels1={0}
Service names changed -

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The USPS integration requires a new DLL and new CSV file for service name updates.

For AbleCommerce Gold

1. Download: ACGold USPS_Patch_2014.zip

2 Using the MD5 checksum number provided, you can verify the integrity of the download before extraction (see below).

TO VERIFY THE DOWNLOAD:

a. Go to WinMD5.com or any other utility that can provide checksum validation.

b. Download and Run the utility.

c. Select the downloaded file.

d. In the field provided, past the original MD5 value provided by AbleCommerce help site, and click Verify.

e. If the validation fails, do NOT install the patch. Instead, contact support@ablecommerce.com for help.

3. Extract DLL file and place in \BIN\ folder.

4. Place the CSV file in the \App_Data\ folder*.

5. Restart IIS or recycle the application pool.

* The new CSV file contains updates to add First-Class Mail Letters and name changes for Media Mail and Library Mail. If you are not using these services (or plan to use them), then it is not necessary to update your CSV file or complete steps 3 - 6 below.

UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

If you have an existing integration, then you will need to follow these additional steps:

1. From the USPS configuration page, change the Maximum Package Weight to 70 pounds.

2. Change the TRACKING URL to: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?qtc_tLabels1={0}

3. Go to the USPS shipping methods page.

4. If you are using Media Mail or Library Mail services, then remove them.

5. From the list, select the updated Media Mail and Library Mail services and add them.

6. If desired, select the First-Class Mail (Stamped/Metered) Letter services.

7. Click SAVE when finished.
