FAQ: What is my Upgrade Path?

This document will give you the information necessary to determine which upgrade options you have available, and the steps that need to be taken to complete the upgrade.  You will need to know which version you are upgrading FROM and which version you are upgrading TO.  Upgrades to full versions are free when you have an active subscription.   

Subscription Holders:  

As a subscription holder, you may upgrade to any full version release while your subscription is still active.  A full version release includes all bug fixes and features.  You must have a valid license key to upgrade.

If you had purchased a pre-release version of AbleCommerce, such as a beta or release candidate, your subscription end date should be on 6/24/09.  This is exactly one year from the date of final release.  If you believe there is a problem with your subscription end date, login to your customer account and request a new key.

Non-Subscription Holders:

If you chose not to purchase a subscription, you will still receive free service release patches.  These are small patches that will correct any major software defects that prevent use of a major feature and that have no work-around.  It also includes any critical security patches that make the software vulnerable.

If you have purchased a full version of AbleCommerce 7 without a subscription, and would like to upgrade, you can purchase the AbleCommerce Incremental Store Upgrade product.

If you have recently purchased a full version of AbleCommerce 7 without a subscription, and are within the 30-day grace period, you may be entitled to a free upgrade to the latest version.  Just make a request through your order, and we'll distribute the upgrade files and a special license key.        

 

  • Before you begin, DETERMINE YOUR CURRENT VERSION.  View the Help > About page from the Merchant Menu.

NOTE:  All full upgrades are based off of AbleCommerce 7.0.0, build 9879.  This is known as the final release build.  This means that you can upgrade to the latest version of AbleCommerce 7.0.x as long as you have 7.0 build 9879 or higher.  If you are still running a pre-release, or beta build, you need to Upgrade to 7.0.0 first.  This is a free upgrade.   

 

Upgrading to AbleCommerce 7.0.5

Upgrading to AbleCommerce 7.0.0

Upgrading from pre-release 7.0 (Beta 2, RC1, RC2, or RC3):

  1. Complete instructions Upgrading 7.x Asp.Net according to the build you are upgrading from.  

  2. Complete the applicable post-upgrade tasks within the upgrade 7.x document.  

 

Non-Subscription Versions:

The following service updates have been released for AbleCommerce 7.0.0.  Each patch includes all the changes from the prior one so installing the newest patch will include all prior service updates.
